In November 2011, Trudy & Dominic Benedict built and established Beacon Suites Pet Resort, a five star resort for dogs from the ground up. Because of the personalized accommodations the Resort continued to grow at an excellent rate and in popularity. After several years of growth we realized our dream of a small specialized Resort was no longer there . So in January 2019 we sold the business with plans to start in a new area, a new venture, a smaller more private, personalized facility that will service our local community. The new Lake Norman facility will provide a home like environment where the guests can enjoy a little pampering.
Some reasons why dogs matter to us and each deserves love and respect: Dogs affect our lives every day. They perform search and rescue, assist law enforcement, provide therapy for the sick and handicapped, they sense disease before our doctors can, they help our retired military veterans with emotional or physical handicaps, they are with our troops on the front line during war, they are the eyes for the blind, they save lives in times of disaster in the worst possible conditions, they provide love and compassion to our elderly, they protect our homes and our families, they are a special friend with loyalty we rarely find. Knowing how remarkable dogs are, our dream is to create a facility where we can treat and care for dogs with the love and respect that they all deserve.
Dominic & Trudy will build the facility knowing what dogs enjoy and need. Large, clean, private suites with Karanda beds and plenty of comfy blankets. The building itself will be designed for comfort, with plenty of natural light, music. For the health of each dog we will provide plenty of love and exercise, with plenty of time outdoors including walks and playground time.
Dominic's first career was in Mechanical Design and designed Beacon Suites Resort. Once the resort became established, Dominic left his position and focused on his passion, continuing to build and maintain the facility to keep each and every guest comfortable.
Trudy's career started in Electrical Engineering, and when the opportunity presented itself, she knew it was time to make a career change and follow her dream, a love of working with dogs. She worked tirelessly to make her dream become a reality.
